What's new on WU.DA.MAGE

Every update to the simulator, the characters and the tier list, explained in plain words. Newest first.

  1. Real in-game timings, Sigrika, rebuilt Aemeath and Augusta, and new tier list views

Every character now fights on their real in-game animation timings, Liberation and Tune Break animations pause the fight clock like in game, and switching characters takes a quarter second. Sigrika joins with her partner Qiuyuan, Aemeath and Augusta are rebuilt from their latest game data, and the tier list gains Team and Solo views at S0, S3 and S6, with Aemeath now crowned first.

    Sigrika

    • Her full move set: Decipher, both kinds of Runes, the three Schemata of Runes follow-ups, Full Stop, Learn My True Name, Soliskin Vitality, Innate Gift? and Blessing of Runes.
    • Every Echo Skill your team casts fills her Soliskin Vitality and Blessing of Runes. Qiuyuan's three chain attacks count once each, like Echoes, and every one of Lucilla's Oblivions counts, as their skill descriptions say.
    • Her Liberation and Decipher attacks count as Echo Skill damage, so Echo Skill buffs reach them and Liberation buffs do not.
    • All six Sequences, her signature Solsworn Ciphers, the Sound of True Name set and the Nameless Explorer Echo are in.
    • Her real teams: Qiuyuan or Lucilla (Echo mode) plus a healer. The team always plays healer, partner, Sigrika, so the partner's +50% Echo Skill buff goes to her.
    • A full guide on her page explains every button and the team loop in plain words.

    Real in-game timings for everyone

    • Every attack, skill, Liberation, Intro and Outro on the site now uses its measured in-game animation timing: how long it takes before you can act again, and when each hit lands. Most moves are quicker than our old estimates.
    • Liberation animations, Tune Breaks and other moves that freeze the screen now stop time like they do in game: the fight clock, buffs, cooldowns and enemy debuffs all pause while they play, so a Liberation no longer eats into your buff windows.
    • Switching characters now takes a quarter second before the next character can act.
    • Because many loops got shorter, rotations were rebuilt so every Liberation and Echo is ready again when the loop comes back round. Some characters now play a few extra attacks between bursts; each character's guide describes the new loop.
    • Many Forte gauges now fill by the game's own per-hit values instead of our estimates, for example Chisa's Ring of Chainsaw, Denia's Void Particle, Luuk's Ichor Flow, Lucy's TCP, Rebecca's Fervor, Mornye's Rest Mass, Suisui's Floral Epistle and Xuanling's Melody.

Any team you pick on a character page

    • Every duo and trio you can build on a character page now plays a full loop with nothing blocked, in every Resonance Mode. Some short pairings used to come back before a 25-second cooldown was ready, so casts were skipped (Denia's own page broke with most partners).
    • When a loop is too short, the character now fills it with their own basic attacks until every Liberation and Echo is ready again and every Outro has its Concerto, for example Denia's Stagecraft Basic Attack strings or Qiuyuan's Heavy and Basic Attacks beside Phrolova. Teams that already worked are unchanged.
    • If a team ever cannot repeat its rotation, the page now says why in plain words above the blocked casts.
    • Lynae at S6: a fight still starts her in her normal stance, so her first turn enters Kaleidoscopic Parade with Spark Collision as usual. Her S6 keeps her in the Parade after her Outro, so from her second turn on her Intro refills 120 Lumiflow and she skips the charge.

    Recommended Energy Regen

    • Every character's recommended Energy Regen was re-checked against their fastest team on the new timings, and every team is still fitted to exactly what its own loop needs.
    • Changed: Aemeath 118.4% (was 100%), Luuk 100% (was 136.8%), Lynae 127.6% (was 136.8%), Qiuyuan 118.4% (was 127.6%), Chisa 118.4% (was 127.6%), Hiyuki 109.2% (was 118.4%), Hsin 100% (was 109.2%), Denia 100% in Tune Strain (was 118.4%), Lucy 127.6% (was 109.2%), Rebecca 118.4% (was 100%), Lupa 109.2% (was 100%), Cartethyia 109.2% (was 100%) and Augusta 109.2% (was 100%). Sigrika starts at 109.2%.
    • Aemeath's new team play is shorter, and her fastest teams now set three targets: her own and Lynae's (from her Tune Rupture team) and Denia's in Fusion Burst mode, which stays at 109.2% (from her Fusion Burst team).

Aemeath, rebuilt from her latest game data

    • In Fusion Burst mode, every Fusion Burst stack a teammate inflicts now banks Fusion Trail for her too, so Denia, Lupa and other Fusion Burst teammates make her Seraphic Duets hit harder.
    • Stardust Resonance now gives her next two Duets 10 Tune Rupture hits each (was 15), and the first Duet after Overdrive keeps the Trail for the next one instead of reading it, as her skill text says.
    • She now Tune Breaks in both modes, and Instant Response, the Seraphic Duo window, her S1, S3 and S6 and her Between the Stars passive work the way the game describes.
    • Her Duets and Heavy Attacks still count as Liberation damage, but only Overdrive and Finale count as casting a Liberation, so effects like Lupa's Set the Arena Ablaze now answer those two.
    • Denia's Outro boost to Fusion Burst damage now adds together with the team's other damage boosts instead of on top of them.
    • Her team play is rebuilt too. In her best teams the healer plays first, then Lynae, Denia or Lupa, and Aemeath casts Overdrive (her Liberation, press R) right after her Intro, so her Seraphic Duets (her Forte Resonance Skill, press E), her big Heavy Attack and her Finale all land inside that partner's Outro window. Her teams got 15% to 27% faster.
    • Her best team, Denia (Fusion Burst) and Shorekeeper, now burns 1.5M HP in 20.5 seconds, the fastest team on the site.

Augusta, rebuilt from her latest game data

    • Her Prowess and Ascendancy gauges now fill by the game's real per-hit values, so one team turn pays for one Undying Sunlight chain.
    • Her Outro gives her Majesty back when the next teammate finishes their turn inside its 14 seconds. The simulator now times that turn: after a quick teammate she plays one chain, after a slow one she plays both herself.
    • Ruler's Realm now shields everyone who casts an Intro inside it, which feeds shield effects such as Iuno's Blessing and Jingran's Ghost Shroud.
    • Her solo fight opens with the Majesty she starts with, and Aureate Zenith joins her weapon list.
    • Her Sworn Allegiance burst plays inside a time stop and costs no fight time, as in game. Her guide explains how much that matters for her ranking.

    Teammate fixes

    • Chisa S6: her 30% boost to Negative Status damage on the marked target now really applies, to Glacio Bites, Fusion Bursts, Aero Erosion and Electro Flare.
    • Shorekeeper: her Stellarealm now grows with every Intro, including both of Cartethyia's, so Cartethyia's Shorekeeper teams got 8% to 13% stronger.
    • Lynae and Iuno at S6 now play proper teammate turns; before, every team with an S6 Lynae or Iuno stopped working.
    • Rebecca: teams on her own page now work with every teammate.
    • Suisui's Undulating Mist now also triggers when its holder sets off a Fusion Burst.
    • Mornye: her teammate turn now plays her air Basic string at every Sequence. At S3 and S6 her shorter turn used to bring fast teams back to her before her Liberation was ready, which broke those teams.

Tier list: two switches, six views

    • Two switches now sit at the top of the tier list: Team or Solo, and S0, S3 or S6. Team at S0 is the main list.
    • Team views rank characters inside the real teams built around their kit. At S3 or S6 the character being ranked plays at that Resonance Chain, and everyone else stays at S0.
    • Solo views rank Main DPS fighting alone, timed to the HP of the Tower of Adversity's Hazard Tower floor 1 boss (5,510,473 HP in Season 40). Each card shows the crest pace that time would reach on the floor's timer. It is a pace, not a clear: our boss never moves, never turns invulnerable and never makes anyone dodge, and floor effects are left out.
    • The main Main DPS score is now 60% best real team, 25% depth and 15% ease of play. Solo speed and the S6 team no longer count in it, because they have views of their own.
    • Rebuilt on the new timings, swap time and Energy Regen. Crowned Main DPS: Aemeath, Jingran, Hiyuki, Sigrika and Hsin. Sigrika is crowned on her debut.
    • Exalted Main DPS: Qingxiao, Yangyang: Xuanling, Augusta and Luuk. Iuno and Lucy are Excellent. Phrolova and Cartethyia are Strong on the main list, but both rank much higher in the Solo views.
    • Lynae, Iuno, Denia and Lucilla are the crowned Sub-DPS, and Shorekeeper and Suisui lead Support. Qiuyuan is now measured with Phrolova as well as Sigrika, which places him Excellent.
    • The how-we-rank page explains the new fight clock and every view.

    Guides and fixes

    • Every character guide now quotes the new loop lengths, Energy Regen targets and team numbers.
    • Aemeath's and Augusta's guides were rewritten, with team, Sequence and weapon numbers from the simulator. Denia's, Lynae's and Lupa's guides quote Aemeath's new teams.
    • Qiuyuan: at S3, Sheath Fallen now replaces his normal Outro hit instead of landing on top of it.
    • Qiuyuan: his guide and team card now say Bamboo's Shade and his Liberation's Crit DMG boost the character on the field, not the whole team.
    • Abyss Surges: its Basic Attack and Resonance Skill bonuses now grow with refinement (10% to 20%), as the game says.
  2. Energy and Concerto, real teams, and a rebuilt tier list

Our biggest accuracy update so far. Hsin and Suoming move to their 3.7 release kits, every Liberation now has to be paid for with real Resonance Energy, and the tier list is rebuilt on the teams each character is actually played in.

Hsin and Suoming move to their 3.7 release kits

    • Suoming: a Unison Response now gives Unison Boon to the whole team, only characters who can respond can hold it, and Suoming herself holds at most 1 stack.
    • Hsin: only her Answering Form Intro now arms Unison for her next Formshift, as the release kit says.
    • Their team rotation was rebuilt so every Outro is properly paid, and a healer in the third slot now actually takes part.
    • Fixed: Hsin's Unison Response never fired with a real partner, and her Unison Boon only applied to herself.
    • Their main Echo is now named Reminiscence: Suhsin the Inevitable, its Hsin-only hit uses the release value, and both are marked Newly Added with their released weapon and Echo art.

Resonance Energy and Concerto, for every character

    • Every Liberation now costs real Resonance Energy. Each hit gives the Energy listed in the game data, multiplied by Energy Regen, and the bar caps at the Liberation cost.
    • Every Outro needs a full Concerto bar. Swapping without one gives no Outro and no Intro. Unison swaps are the only exception, as their kits say.
    • Characters waiting off field also gain Energy: half of what the on-field character earns, based on community testing.
    • Rotations now have to pay for themselves. A loop only counts if it earns back the Energy and Concerto it spends, so no rotation gets a free Liberation.
    • Energy Regen is fitted to each team automatically, the way players gear for the team they use.
    • Solo rotations are now real in-game rotations that attack and use skills until the Liberation is ready, so some solo numbers went down.
    • Dodge Counters are limited to about one every 10 seconds, because you need an enemy attack to dodge.
    • The rotation editor and the character page now always use the same rules, and the editor shows each character's Energy Regen.

Real teams and a rebuilt tier list

    • Characters are now ranked only in teams that actually work with their kit: designed partners, teammates whose buffs really land on them, and a healer in every team. Before, every character was tried with everyone else and the fastest combination won, which put some odd teams on top.
    • Designed teams are played the way they are played in game. For example, Qiuyuan's Echo Skills now summon Phrolova's Hecate, Lucilla's and Suisui's buffs cover Hiyuki's whole turn, and Chisa's Havoc Bane feeds Yangyang: Xuanling.
    • Every time on the tier list now starts at the first second of a single-target boss fight, so openers and ramp-up count. Characters that need a long setup show that cost.
    • Team results now make up 75% of each Main DPS score, solo 15% and ease of play 10%.
    • The crown is wider: the top third of each role column is Crowned (T0).
    • Crowned Main DPS today: Hiyuki, Luuk, Jingran and Iuno. Shorekeeper and Suisui lead Support. Phrolova drops to Exalted because her setup and slow ramp cost her in a fresh boss fight.
    • Character pages now say clearly whether a number is the whole team's damage or one character's own, and how long the run is.
    • A new page, How we rank, explains the whole method step by step, with every weight and the live numbers behind each placement.

    Accuracy fixes, character by character

    • Hiyuki: Jade Cleave and Petalfall now give 75 Frostheart (thanks to a community member's in-game testing). The Snowforged Blade slider is gone: her Blade Liberation now spends every Blade she holds, as the kit says. Missing kit rules were added, Glacio Bites now need Hiyuki on the team, and her teammate turn is shorter.
    • Iuno: her Blessing now needs a shield, as her kit says, and five of her damage multipliers were corrected to match the game data. In a fresh fight she now opens with Absolute Fullness, like a real player would.
    • Phrolova: her team with Qiuyuan now plays as designed, and her Octet bonus no longer grows past what the kit allows.
    • Denia: her Off-Tune default no longer starts at the maximum, Etched Colors only works inside Entropy Shift, her S3 and S5 were corrected, and her Outro now ends when the character swaps out.
    • Qiuyuan's S3, Lucy's SQL bonus and Luuk's S3 now match the game data. Qiuyuan's S3 was far too strong before.
    • Shorekeeper's Stellarealm now resets when she casts a new Liberation, and Yangyang: Xuanling's Feathered Oath can now reach its full 6 stacks.
    • Mornye's Wide Field Observation now ends properly, and her teammate turn earns its Outro.
    • 34 buffs were corrected after a full check of every character. Most were Outro buffs that kept running after the character swapped out, or buffs that reached the wrong character.
    • Weapon fixes: five weapons' Energy Regen passives now count, Fallacy of No Return's Energy Regen lasts 20 seconds instead of forever, and Leviathan and Celestial Spiral use their correct values.

    What we still assume

    • The off-field Energy share (half of the on-field character's Energy) comes from community testing, not official data. If new tests show a different number, it is one setting to change.
    • When a skill lists Concerto both on its hits and as a flat bonus, we add them together. A quick in-game test on Shorekeeper's Enlightenment would confirm it.
